Students & Our Future
Gabrielle Moore Cares
Gabrielle was raised in a family that believes in giving back to the community.
Her father fought in World War II and helped liberate his hometown in the Hague, in the Netherlands, from the Nazis. He emigrated to America in the 1950s and adopted Texas as both his home, and as his spirit. He taught his children to appreciate their first amendment right of expression, and our country that elevates it as a right. He taught his children to treat everybody equally. And he exemplified these lessons by volunteering for non-profits that defended the rights of those who could not afford counsel.
Gabrielle’s mother is a lifelong music educator who has devoted herself to bringing together disparate ethnic groups through musical collaboration. She sacrificed her livelihood to fight for integration in the performing arts when local society did not support it. And as all true educators do, she guides and celebrates the accomplishments of her students.
Gabrielle is an advocate for affordable housing and environmental preservation. She is a long time Realtor based in San Marcos and served as a City of San Marcos Planning and Zoning commissioner from 2019 to 2022. She was a member of the City of San Marcos bond committee that won overwhelming support on the ballot in 2017 for the public library and police department expansions, and for the addition of two fire stations and a fire fighting training facility. She serves on the board of Sustainable San Marcos, a 501(c)3 organization, and is a 20 year member of the League of Women Voters, a 6 year member of the Hays County Women’s Political Caucus, and a founding member of MoveSM. She formerly served on the board of SMART Orchestra and has served for many years on the Four Rivers Board of Realtors Governmental Affairs Committee.
Most importantly, Gabrielle and her partner, Lynny Davis Moore, have been proud Rattler parents from Bonham Pre-K to San Marcos High School graduate. Their family has a very personal connection to San Marcos CISD. Their daughter now attends college at UT Austin.
Gabrielle Moore knows that our future depends on the education of our children. The Texas constitution states: “A general diffusion of knowledge being essential to the preservation of the liberties and rights of the people, it shall be the duty of the Legislature of the State to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools” Gabrielle will utilize all tools available to support our San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, its staff, and most importantly, our students and future.
